Three Ways To Use A Reusable Bag

Shopping Blog

When you shop at a store that carries a wide selection of items for your home, you'll often come across reusable cloth bags. Often featuring lively designs and sold individually or in packages of a few, these bags are available in different sizes. You might be thinking about buying a few of these bags to take to your local supermarket as an alternative to plastic or paper bags. While your bags will come in handy in this application, there are many other good ways that you can incorporate them into your life. Here are three options that you may wish to try.

Giving Items To People

While you'll likely use wrapping paper or a conventional gift bag when you're giving a gift to someone you know, these products can be too formal in certain situations. For example, if you've made some soup for a friend who has a cold and will be dropping it off with a small container of crackers, you can place these items in one of your reusable bags. Doing so will add a little flair to your offering, as well as make it easier for the person to carry into their home instead of having to handle the loose containers. Because of the affordability of reusable bags, you don't need to worry about your friend returning the bag to you. Instead, you may encourage them to use the bag however they wish.

Traveling

When you travel with your family, you'll likely have clothing and personal items in your suitcases and snacks in a cooler. For many families, it's common to also load several plastic grocery bags with other assorted items. Whether you're arriving at a family member's home or checking into a hotel, you might be a little embarrassed about unloading a large quantity of plastic bags from your vehicle. Using cloth reusable bags will help you to travel with a higher level of style — especially when you use bags that have eye-catching designs.

Visiting The Library

If you're an avid visitor of your local library, you're likely aware of the challenges of trying to carry large stacks of books to and from your vehicle. This can especially be an issue when you visit with young children, as you may find that you're carrying your books and their books and struggling to do so. A large reusable cloth bag will allow you to carry several books with one hand, which means that you can keep one hand free for opening doors, getting your car keys, and other similar tasks.

The Power of Your Sense of Smell

Even as a child, I recognized that scent has the power to influence mood. The aroma of warm bread fresh from the oven still makes me feel safe and nurtured, even if I am the one who did the baking. The smell of sawdust reminds me of my grandfather who owned a lumber mill, and, strangely enough, the scent of paint thinner triggers memories of visiting my father at his machine shop on hot, summer days. Now that I have my own home, I use scent to help build my family's excitement for the holidays. Certain aromas reassure me that my house is clean or help me relax after a long day. The right smell can alleviate anxiety, promote a sense of calm, and signal that I am truly home.
